ehmkay nails: 13 Days of Halloween: Black and Orange Half-Moon

I have to say, my Halloween looks are a bit subdued this year. I’m finishing my second Masters degree and also just have so much going on. I have ideas in my head and they don’t necessarily translate to my nails. That being said, I still like to share all things on this blogs, fails and successes.
I always love seeing those felt Halloween garlands and that’s what loosely inspired this look. Basically I wanted to do a half moon mani with Black and orange. To be honest, I really love how this looks even though it’s so simple. I thought about adding more “strings“ to make this look more like a garland but I love the simplicity of the half moon.
To help get my half moon as even as possible, I actually traced a line where I would eventually put my dots with a super sheer color.
- Base: one coat Morgan Taylor All American Beauty
- Flakes: Two coats KBShimmer Raking It In
- Black: Stella Chroma Queen in the North
- Orange: Stella Chroma The Ides of Autumn
Again, this is totally unlike any other Halloween look I would do normally, but I really love how this came out. The flake topcoat is an autumn version so the colors are like leaves and obviously the black and orange are perfect for Halloween. everything is a bit shimmery and sparkly and yet perfectly autumn and Halloween. If you’re not really into Halloween nail art, and I feel like this is a way for you to be festive without putting pumpkins on your nails.
